This is very exciting news for us – our fans have been waiting a long time for these DVDs, so we’re thrilled to finally have them in hand. Plus, Season 2 DVDs were an add-on for our Season 3 Kickstarter!

While the Kickstarter was running, or just after, we contacted any backer who gave more then their pledge level to confirm their choice of add-ons. We have packaged up and sent off an early shipment of these DVDs to every backer who has requested one – if you believe you’ve been missed in this process, please send an email to watchstandardaction@gmail.com, and we’ll sort you out.

To everyone who did not order a Standard Action Season 2 DVD through this Kickstarter, we are very pleased to announce that they will be sold at Gen Con Indy 2014, the granddaddy of all tabletop gaming conventions, in Indianapolis, this month! Stop by the Zombie Orpheus Entertainment booth and pick up your copy! You may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of our illustrious director/producer, Rob Hunt, who will be enjoying the festivities.

After the convention, we will be launching the Season 2 DVDs on our online store, which is currently managed by FanSupported.net, and they will be available for everyone!

Hi everyone!

Time is ticking on, and though we’ve kept you up to date on our shoot schedule and shown you the evidence of our hard work, we’d like to touch base with you about where exactly we are with production and perk development, for those of you watching and waiting for some of those extras we promised. We are ever grateful for your support of Standard Action and our team over the past year, and we are still working hard to get this season shipped.

It became clear when the post-production process got rolling that editing Season 3 was going to be a whole lot more complex than we originally thought. We decided that our primary focus had to be the development of the season, which is what that Kickstarter money was used to fund, and we put the perks on the back burner… for now.

THE BIG NEWS:

The positive side of this “problem” is that we have a season that is going to be bigger than promised. We’re not sure how much bigger, but we’re looking at MORE than the promised six episodes, and you can quote us on that.

Here’s where we are.

On Season 3:

  • Production (filming) is complete.
  • Joanna is working on layout for the season, going through the material and cutting together the footage.
  • Rob is doing final nips and tucks on the layouts, putting in those visual effects, mastering the look of the episodes and developing new and exciting animations and credit sequences
  • Kersten is busily composing and sound designing, adding the sound of our world to the visuals.
  • On Perks:

  • Season 2 DVDs have been printed and we’re waiting for them to arrive.
  • The Pathfinder module for the adventures of the team between Seasons 1 and 2 is now with our editors, and has gone through two rounds of playtesting.
  • Joanna is copyediting the Standard Action Card Game, making sure the rules terminology is solid and consistent.
  • Chapter 1 Standard Action hard copy comics have arrived!
  • Critical Hit Show DM Eric Fell has been selected to create the Standard Action RPG Supplement PDF, and he’s busily working away at it.
  • The Edda Backstory Feature Film has an outline and a treatment.
  • Please keep apprised of our progress here on our website; we also have active Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus accounts, so keep in touch over there as well – you can find the links up there at the top right of this page. Write to us here with your questions, or to watchstandardaction@gmail.com.

This season is going to be fantastic, Actioneers. It’s just taking a lot of late nights and elbow grease to get it the way we want it. Thank you for your continued support, and your patience.

~ the team at the Standard Action Skull Fortress

We shot interior tavern material in the morning – one of the Random Encounters we’ll have for this season – and we ventured outside into the snow for our final pickup with Rebecca and David. Bittersweet!

Oh, and did I mention that for the last half of the day, we went outside? And that it was snowing? No? Well, we did. And it was. And it looked incredible.

If you’re a Kickstarter backer, we will have a video for you in the next few days!

Shoot day 15 was the first of our pickup days! We headed to a brand new location with a skeleton crew to capture some bits and pieces we felt just needed to be in the cut for one of our episodes.

We’ve only got one picture for you, and we hope it piques your curiosity! What exactly are we doing in a concrete hallway? And what are we running from, exactly? And how did Vanessa get Wendy’s cloak to flow so perfectly in the breeze like that?? So many questions!!

This was our last day of principal photography, and it was nearing the end of November. Fortunately, we avoided the rain, but it was a chilly one, for sure! We welcomed cameraman Ryan delaRonde on board for this shoot day, who we hadn’t seen around since Season 2!

Daniel Chai did a guest spot, Kickstarter backer Chris Piazzo came up from California to have some fun with the team, and we invited backgrounders Shaun Stewart and Stacey Roy to set! This shoot day also celebrated the return of Ishnu to in front of the camera. The lens missed you, Ishnu.

We got one scene in the bag, and it has a classic Standard Action Season 1 look to it – soggy and freezing. There isn’t any behind the scenes for Day 12 – Ishnu was reassigned to holding umbrellas!

    Seriously. What a trooper.

    Oh, it's wet.

Yep. It’s definitely wet. Thanks for the cheap umbrellas, Ikea!

    Edda in the Rain!

I don’t think that’s standard adventuring gear, Edda. What are you doing out of character?

This news we’ve had under our hats for a while, but now that we’re cutting together the final edits of our Season 3 episodes, we’ve decided to spill the beans on a very exciting addition to our cast: actor and director Sandeep Parikh!

You’ll recognize Sandeep as Zaboo from the groundbreaking nerdy webseries The Guild – the series that inspired many of us grassroots new media filmmakers to take our first few steps onto the web. He’s also made guest appearances on such fantastic shows as My Gimpy Life and Fresh Hell; and he is creator, director and writer of the web hit The Legend of Neil.

We are so very excited to welcome Sandeep to the family. If you’re not familiar with his work, take a few minutes to check it out – he’s a huge asset to the webseries community, and a very talented comedian, actor and filmmaker. You’re going to love what he brings to our show.

    Haha! You’ve been Ulrick Rolled!

This is our first Random Encounter of 2014: “Never Gonna Split You Up” by Ulrick Ghastly.

Our brilliant composer Kersten Tennert wrote the music for this great little piece, and Eric Fell and Rob Hunt wrote the lyrics. It stars Eric Fell, who you also saw as the merchant in Season 2, Episodes 1 and 2, and of course our Edwin Perez as Fernando.

Our Random Encounters are canon now, didn’t you know! So I wonder when this took place…?

Sometimes in the middle of a take, our director, Rob Hunt, will hold for sound if a plane passes over… or the rifle range nearby starts up… or someone decides to cut their lawn… you get the idea. This is what happens when the plane just keeps on circling. We thought people waiting for Season 3 might enjoy this little taste of what happens on set. Enjoy!
